 Gold Beach Vacation Information

There is a lot to see and do in our part of the world. Most visitors barely scratch the surface.
We would love to help you find the places and things that interest you the most!

We have some of the very best beach combing territory in the world
and the adventure can start right outside your front door!

Our local birders list 250 different bird species in our area
and we can show you the very best places to see and hear them!

Like the sign says “Don’t be a crab – eat one.” The waters just offshore
have some of the best and you can rent a pot or buy a claw – your choice.

The mighty Rogue River is legendary for salmon and steelhead angling,
but the ocean bekons as well and we can help you find a guide and a boat!

If you are into golf we can offer several very challenging courses that attract
other similarly afflicted, but otherwise seemingly normal people, from all over.

Within minutes you can be on a trail in one of three different wilderness areas
or, if you prefer, you can hike a segment of the dramatic Oregon Coastal Trail!

If walking a wilderness trail isn’t your cup of tea, how about taking a horseback
ride on a long lonely stretch of beach? It can be the stuff of dreams for some!

Our hunting seasons are part of a carefully thought out preservation plan
that ensures that our wildlife populations do not exceed the area’s food supply.

Gold Beach is justly famous for the exciting jet boat rides that take visitors up the
Rogue River. The drivers usually succeed in finding interesting sights along the way.

Our coastline has been dangerous for shipping, particularly back in the age of sail.
The tradition of our coastal guardians is memorialized in a number of nearby lighthouses.

Our community includes an assemblage of very talented artists working in a variety
of different media. Their work is shown in local galleries and sometimes in their studios.

In the fall, a wealth of exotic mushrooms can be found in our part of the world
and we will be happy to share our recipies for a variety of delicious culinary delights.

With a half dozen beautiful wild rivers as part of our world you are invited to join us,
with or without a guide, as we kayak, raft, float, swim, and splash all year long!

The mighty gray whale, once near extinction, is making a glorious comeback and our
coast has a number of excellent places (including several of our homes) to cheer them on!

Bring your camera and photograph our magnificent wildflowers, some of which
are to be found nowhere else in the entire world and maybe collect an eagle or a bear as well!

Another subject suitable for the photographer in your family are the flowers of the sea that
can be found in our tide pools. Colors and shapes every bit as fantastic as the ones in the meadow!

You have not really lived until you have experienced one of our fantastic winter storms.
Spectacular surf, howling sound effects, the smell of salt spray, and a cozy refuge by the fire!

We have some of the finest wind surfing conditions on the West Coast of America!
Imagine – there are some folks who don’t even know what we are talking about!

Or, if you so wish, just sit a while and maybe read a book or take a snooze.
We won’t tell anyone. After all, it is your vacation and
you should do what you want to do!
